Been a while
Man I haven't posted anything in a while. Not sure how many are still reading but here's a little update. Just finished up my second summer here at IU and classes went pretty well. Just took the MCAT today and I think it went alright. Not really going to know how I did until scores are released. Ran out of time for a couple questions in the physical sciences section and the biological sciences had one of my worst subjects for a passage, but overall I feel pretty good. That's about it for major news lately. I'll try to keep things updates a bit more regularly. |

Oh to be Noah right now
Dear God, As the omnipotent creator of the Universe far beyond our mere comprehension, you are able to do as you please. Seeing as you apparently reversed your decision not to destroy the world by flood looking at Indiana, could I ask for some advance warning next time should we survive? Arks take time and supplies and it's hard to build when you're ass deep in water. Sincerely, Caius |

What the hell was that movie
This has been bugging me for the past few hours. For some reason I suddenly remembered a movie i saw a while back but not the name and wondered if any of you could help me remember the name. The basic plot is a woman is getting therapy after her son went missing then wakes up one day to find it as though he never existed. She goes on a frantic search that culminates in what appears to be a government conspiracy with aliens, giving them children to experiment on. I realize this is not the most unique plot summary but it's all I can remember. |

Things I learned from watching SciFi channel movies this week
1. Individuals worshipping magical cornfields and/or scarecrows are to be shot on sight and the object of their worship burned. 2. A viable argument for gun control is to keep them out of the hands of psychic zombie children. 3. If dying of necrotizing fasciitis, avoid the police at all costs. They are hillbillies who will shoot you and dump the body in the river. 4. If at some point you are fighting a dark evil and find yourself teamed up with a child of the age 5-10, do not make any movement towards safety until they fully understand that you are the only thing keeping them from a fate worse than death and all others including parents are to be avoided. 5. Don't leave the gun behind when you go to check for trouble. This ought to be a given but apparently we humans are stupid like that. 6. Death is a fan of Rube Goldberg because only he could set up a twelve step process to stab you in the heart. 7. If a worldwide plague is infecting only children, kill them. You'll pay for it later if you don't. 8. Invest in trained attack crows. 9. While the combined technology of the military ma not be able to dent the monster's hide, a well placed pen knife can. 10. Learn from Lovecraft. If any sort of god is descending to Earth it can only go wrong. |

aren't yearly illnesses fun?
I'm getting my annual super cold right now. Instead of getting several mild colds throughout the winter months they all clump together for one week of kicking my immune system's ass. Currently on day 3 and I can tell I'll probably lose my voice sometime tomorrow. At least it usually only lasts a week. That and the molotov cocktail of antibiotics I'm slinging at it give me something to look forward to. |

Update
Everything's been going pretty well. The organic lab is probably my most intense class just due to workload, but the others are going pretty well. My most interesting class is Alternative Social Control systems which has had some very interesting speakers. Just had our first test in organic chemistry. I felt really good about, although now that I feel good I keep worrying that everything I felt sure about was wrong. |

physics and such
I'll soon be headed back home for a two week break before fall semester starts and the gates of hell are torn open to unleash Organic Chemistry II upon my pitiable soul once more. Physics is wrapping up for the summer. We have our final tomorrow at 10 and I feel pretty good about it. Probably not going to study too much more tonight. When your study group starts cracking sex jokes based upon the relativistic theorem of length contraction, it's a good indication you may have been studying a bit too long. Not too much else is going out. I've moved most of the heavy stuff and my room is really quiet without a TV. I'll be gone Sunday, so when fall semester rolls around let me know if anything's going on. Later everyone. |

Anime review
For those who read here who might be interested in looking into a new anime series there are two that have just been released over here that are two of the best series I've seen. Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni aka When They Cry: In the small village of Hinamizawa there is a belief that once each year at the Cotton Drifting Festival, Oyashiro-sama, the local god, will kill one person and demon another away for sins committed against the village. For the last four years this has happened and while the villagers are content to blame the curse, the police are not. Keiichi Maebara, whose family recently moved to Hinamizawa, stumbles upon this secret and as his paranoia and suspicion of his friends increases, he swears he can hear the foot steps of Oyashiro-sama behind him, ready to demon him away. When They Cry is a murder mystery/tragedy series. There are 6 different arcs shown in the series, four question arcs and two answer arcs. Three of the answer arcs focus on the weeks leading up to the Cotton Drifting Festival, and the aftermath. What strikes odd about these arcs is that hey cannot happen at the same time, details are too drastically different for them to be just different perspectives. Each serves only to further destabilize what you believe to be the truth, there is nothing that can be taken at face value. Whatever they may reveal or answer slightly is outweighed by the questions that arise. The fourth answer arc is perhaps the most straightforward, but still full of mystery in and of itself. It takes place several years prior to the series start and shows us the dam incident that is often referred to and just what effect it had on the village. The Answer arcs serve to give some clarification to the questions raised in the previous arcs, however they still remain vague, only answering the most obvious questions while barely alluding to the overarching incident that plagues each iteration. This show does wonderfully at thwarting one's attempts to piece together the puzzle, and as the show began a second season the story is not yet complete although the end of the first season feels quite fitting. Mushishi: Ghosts, spirits, demons. These are some of the words used to describe these mysterious creatures that few can see and even fewer understand. These creatures are known as Mushi. They are quite odd, some eat sound, others hide withing the darkness of the eyes, some can even give rebirth to the dead. Quite often the unusual nature of these creatures can cause problems for humans and animals living alongside them and that is where the Mushi-shi step in. The series follows the Mushi-shi Ginko, a person who specializes in the study of Mushi, as he travels the country side. We follow him from case to case as he is called to help with the creatures. Ginko strives to prevent destruction of the Mushi as a solution since whatever problems they cause are often just a side effect of their own attempts to survive. in the whole series there is only one Mushi that seems malicious. Mushishi has no continuous storyline, each episode is self contained with Ginko being the only major recurring character. While this formula can fall short for some series, it works quite well for Mushishi. Ginko's a wanderer and for a wanderer there is no constant direction life takes them, they simply go where they go. |

I do believe eye exams violate the eighth amendement
I just paid someone to shine very bright lights in my eyes for the better part of an hour. Something's not quite right with that. I've also been dialated so now everything withing 2 ft. looks vaguely like what it is but damned if I can actually tell. I'd been needing an eam though since it's been at least 3 years since the last one. Also what time is everyone going to the potter salon tomorrow? Is it at 7 like last time? |

Went looking through journals of everyone to try to catch up after not coming to LJ for some time and found this meme. For some reason every meme keeps Caius evil. </form> |

The week of the Deathly Hollows
My it's going to be a fun week. Trying to avoid as many spoilers as possible while still keeping up with the sites chronicling the countdown to critical mass for the HP Fandom. I'm not quite sure what a black hole will look like when it forms in the internet itself, but dammit it'll be interesting. Starting to wonder what'll be more fun; the book itself and seeing just what kind of send off Harry is given or the fallout. I was wondering where everyone is getting their book come Friday night. I reserved mine at Barnes & Noble's. I didn't stay for the whole party the night of Half Blood Prince as I didn't really know anyone back home and that even though I had gleefully participated in a Hogwarts LARP, some of the people there scared the hell out of me. Boy I'm gonna be a lot of help on my grandma's birthday Saturday. |
